Working at our kitchen table with the door open, we felt a strange shift in the air and turned to find an old Greek man installed on the street just outside, weaving a chair together with the kind of practiced speed that comes from decades of doing it. These woven chairs turn up in Greek restaurants worldwide, but we’d never actually watched one being made before. He let us film the whole process, calm and unbothered the entire time.
