After the pink beach at Elafonisi, we drove back over the mountain pass and down to the south coast of Crete for lunch in Palaiochora. The water there is some of the clearest and bluest we’ve seen anywhere, crystal enough to see straight down to the seabed just steps from shore. It was a fitting second stop on our road-trip day, trading one kind of beautiful coastline for a completely different one.
