The Aesthetic of Red Light Signs in Athens
The player loads from YouTube only when you press play.
Certain corners of Athens glow red at night in a way that has nothing to do with anything official, just the accumulated signage of small businesses, neon repair shops, and shuttered storefronts lit by whatever bulbs still work. We went looking for exactly that kind of light on one particular evening, framing shots around signs rather than landmarks. The result reads less like a travel clip and more like a mood board built entirely out of one city’s ordinary red glow.
