Reaching Olympos on Karpathos takes a genuinely difficult mountain drive, narrow roads switching back repeatedly before the village finally appears clinging to the hillside, but the payoff is a settlement that still carries its traditional architecture and views stretching out over the surrounding peaks in every direction. We filmed the approach and the village itself, convinced that anyone visiting Karpathos without making this particular detour is missing the best part of the island.
