Evzones Soldiers at the Acropolis in Athens, Greece

Most visitors only ever see the Evzones guarding the tomb at Syntagma Square, but the ceremonial unit also takes part in events at other major historic sites around Athens. We caught them marching up toward the Acropolis right as the light was turning gold, the traditional uniform and deliberate, high stepping walk looking almost theatrical against the ancient stone behind them. It was a different context for a sight we thought we already understood from the city center.
