Visit the Luxor Museum First

Luxor throws a lot at first time visitors all at once, temples and tombs and reliefs stretching back three thousand years with very little context offered on site. We started at the Luxor Museum instead of the ruins, and the smaller, well lit collection gave us names and timelines that made everything we saw afterward easier to place. It changed how we walked through Karnak and the Valley of the Kings for the rest of the week.
