The Collapsed Statues at the Ramesseum in Luxor, Egypt
The player loads from YouTube only when you press play.
The Ramesseum sits a little apart from Luxor’s busiest sites, which means far fewer tour buses and far more room to actually look at what is there, including the massive fallen statues scattered across the ground where they toppled centuries ago. One giant granite head and torso lies half buried, cracked but still recognizable, more striking somehow than if it had been left standing. We spent longer here than at some of the more famous temples nearby, and preferred it.
