The hike from Morella to the tiny village of Xiva de Morella covers a short but genuinely rural stretch of inland Spain, old stone aqueducts still standing along the route and mountain views opening up at every turn in the path. We passed almost no one else the entire way, just fields, distant church bells, and the kind of quiet that makes it hard to believe a medieval walled town is only a short walk behind you.
