We went to a small spot near Bangkok’s flower market for Tok Sen, a traditional massage that uses rhythmic tapping with a wooden mallet instead of just hands, and left feeling looser than we expected from something that looks almost percussive. The real surprise came afterward, when our therapist introduced her Pomeranian, who turned out to get the exact same treatment on a tiny scale. Watching a dog receive Tok Sen with total calm was not on our list of expectations.
