Mercado de Colón was originally built as a working market, and the Art Nouveau details throughout the building make it clear that even a functional structure was never meant to be purely functional in this city. Stained glass windows catch the light and scatter color across the restaurant tables that now fill the space where produce stalls used to stand. We filmed the interior slowly, tracking the ironwork and glasswork rather than the food, since the architecture is doing most of the talking here.
