We biked out from Valencia’s center to the coastal neighborhood of Cabanyal for a night Mascletà, a version of this daytime tradition reimagined for darkness, the bursts registering as bright bursts of color against the black sky rather than just noise and smoke. We filmed the whole sequence from the crowd gathered near the shore, the sound carrying differently out here than it does packed between the buildings of the old town.
