A rattling sound in a tree branch during a morning walk in Valencia turned out to be a small cat wedged in among the leaves, clearly trying to stay hidden but not particularly bothered once it realized we had already spotted it. We stopped to say hello, and it let us get closer than expected before eventually deciding it had had enough attention for one morning. Valencia has no shortage of these small, unplanned encounters if you are paying attention.
