Weird Nesting Habits of the Hornbill – #shorts #hornbill

Hornbills on Pangkor Laut Island have nesting habits that sound almost invented once you actually learn them, the female sealing herself inside a tree cavity with mud and droppings until only a narrow slit remains, relying entirely on the male to deliver food through that gap for weeks. We spotted the behavior during our visit without knowing beforehand what we were looking at, watching a male repeatedly return to what looked like a solid tree trunk with nothing else visibly going on.
