A line of ants moving along a fixed path through the undergrowth in Malaysia had its own visible security detail, larger guard ants positioned at intervals along the route, apparently there to keep the main column moving safely without interference. We filmed the whole operation close to the ground, genuinely impressed by how organized and deliberate the whole system looked for something running on instinct alone. It is easy to walk past this kind of detail without ever noticing it is even happening.
