Macro Desperta Fallas 2020 – Firecracker Parade To Wake The City of Valencia

Fallas 2020 got off to an unusual start: the Macro Despertà, normally held the same day as the opening ceremony, was pushed back because the last Sunday of February fell awkwardly against March. This firecracker parade wakes up the entire city, with participating casals setting off tro de bac, hand-thrown firecrackers about the size of cherry bombs but with an ear-splitting bang to match. It’s chaotic, loud and absolutely not for the faint of heart.
