The Turia River Park in Valencia
The player loads from YouTube only when you press play.
The Turia used to be a real river running straight through the middle of Valencia, and a dangerous one, prone to serious flooding. After one especially bad flood, the authorities decided to reroute the river around the city entirely, leaving the old riverbed empty until residents fought to turn it into a park rather than let it be built over for something else. Today that stretch of old riverbed is one of the green, beating hearts of the city, and it is hard to imagine Valencia without it.
