The last big fireworks event of Valencia’s month-long Gran Fira de Julio was a correfoc, a running fire parade through the streets with no barriers and no safety net between us and the sparks. We came away with singed hair and a few burn marks, and we’d do it again in a heartbeat. To make it even stranger, the night’s fireworks competed for our attention with a rare lunar eclipse crossing the sky overhead.
