Inside the Àgora building at Valencia’s City of Arts and Sciences, an escalator runs through a space so geometrically stark and brightly lit that riding it feels closer to stepping into a video game level than using ordinary public infrastructure. The building itself is free to enter as long as you are not there for a ticketed exhibition, which makes the escalator alone worth the detour on its own. We rode it slowly, letting the angles and lighting do all the work of the shot.
