Walking out into the sea at Whitstable during a falling tide, we ended up on a long sandbank that made the water on either side look like it was parting directly in front of us, an optical illusion good enough that for a second it genuinely felt biblical. There was nothing supernatural about it, just timing and geography working together at exactly the right moment as the tide pulled back. We kept walking straight down the middle of it anyway, playing along with the effect.
