Kalymnos
A long weekend on Kalymnos, a small Greek island near Kos, came shortly after we settled into our house in Stavros on Crete. Sheer vertical walls make the island a mountain-climber’s paradise, and we followed the scene to its heart in the west-coast villages of Myrties, Masouri and Armeos before crossing to Telendos for the climbing there. A hike around Telendos then turned unexpectedly dangerous, joining misadventures like Iceland’s Hengill hike and Sri Lanka’s leeches.
