We felt at home the moment we walked into the Volkshotel, which says a lot for a place we had just checked into. Housed in a former newspaper building, the lobby mixes a cafe, a free coworking area, and a genuinely artistic, lived-in feel, and it was just as packed with locals working on laptops as it was with guests checking in. It ended up being the perfect introduction to Amsterdam for our first few nights in the city.
