Our last day in Zürich turned into an unplanned tour of the city’s public transport, three cable cars, a cogwheel train, a boat ride, and enough tram rides to lose count, all in the space of a single afternoon. The Polybahn funicular stood out among them, a short, steep little climb up from the lake that has been shuttling passengers up the hill for longer than most of the city’s other transit lines. Few cities make leaving this enjoyable just by how you get around.
