Eminönü never really slows down, ferries pulling in, fishermen working the seawall, food stalls calling out to anyone walking past, and somewhere in the middle of all that noise we found a vendor pulling traditional Ottoman candy fresh on a stick. It came out sticky, brightly colored, and sweeter than we expected, the kind of treat that has apparently been made the same way for a very long time. Small moments like this one tend to stick with us longer than the bigger sights.
