We happened to be at the gate in Brussels early enough to catch a Lufthansa plane getting de-iced right as the sun came up, spray arcing across the wings in the pale morning light with the temperature sitting well below freezing. There is something quietly satisfying about watching routine airport operations like this up close, machinery most passengers never think about working through the cold before a single passenger even boards. It turned an ordinary wait at the gate into something worth filming.
