Basel kicked off its Eurovision Song Contest celebrations with a light show inside a dome structure at the Novartis Pavillon, right along the Rhine, colors sweeping across the interior surface in patterns timed to music we could feel more than clearly hear from outside. We filmed it from the riverbank, the dome glowing against the darker water behind it. It felt like a small preview of the bigger spectacle the contest itself was about to bring to the whole city.
